Looking for a loving new home

Lilo is an approximately 4-year-old female dog who has been living in her current home since February 2023. She weighs about 11–12 kg, is in good health, has been checked by a vet, and is fully vaccinated.

In calm, familiar surroundings, Lilo shows her pleasant and loving side: she is very cuddly, strongly bonded to her person(s), and relaxed in everyday life. She loves ball games, her plush toys, and is very fit – long walks and extended hikes give her great joy. Over the past years she has been able to overcome some fears, but still has clear insecurities around unfamiliar people and dogs.

In stressful, confined, or unpredictable situations, Lilo reacts very sensitively. Especially many people in enclosed spaces, sudden movements, or quick approaches overwhelm her. In such moments she can react impulsively and show controlling snapping. There have been isolated snapping incidents in the past in very high-stress situations. Responsible and experienced handling is therefore a requirement for her future home.

With other dogs, too, Lilo shows insecurities. She may bark or snap quickly, but can get along very well with calm, confident dogs – especially when contact is built up slowly and consistently. With regular, low-stress contact, positive progress is possible.

Lilo forms a very close, trusting bond with one primary person. At the same time, she still shows clear unease around men, which despite intensive efforts could not be lastingly reduced and at times strongly affects her daily life.

Various training and management measures have already been implemented, including veterinary checks, retreat options, clear structure, and reliable muzzle training. Nevertheless, it has become clear that Lilo cannot be given the security she needs in her current environment.

A home is therefore being sought for Lilo that offers:

  • quiet environment
  • no children
  • as little visitors and stimulation as possible
  • confident, experienced person(s)
  • clear structure and proactive management
  • ideally access to a quiet outdoor area
  • preferably a calm, stable first dog as a role model

Lilo has many loving qualities and has already shown progress. With time, patience, and the right environment, there is still potential for her to build trust and strengthen positive relationships with people and dogs. A home is being sought for her that takes her needs seriously and gives her the security she needs.
